Sonoma, my home, is burning. These fires, fueled by drought and high winds, winds I’ve never seen before in the 40+ years of living here, are our portion of climate change. Everything has changed, quickly. These paintings are painted using the Alla Prima water color technique on 12”X16” Arches water color paper. Alla Prima is an Italian phrase meaning first attempt. The paper is wet and wet ink is poured and painted on. Each work is completed quickly in one session. The speed of the process and the uncontrollable aspect that fire and water share supply the perfect way to express the inherent beauty of the fires.
